Hello...

I'm saddened to learn of the loss of Bill Pike from the "Open Mike"
on "AM 1490." I also used to work with Bill at WHAV many years ago, and will miss him. He once told me he never once missed a Haverhill High school Hillies game since 1965! His play by play was great fun to listen to. Amazingly enough, I too used to help set up the phone line link to the station at these small football stadiums. Back then, I had the first Sony Walkman that came out, and it was quite sensitive and could pick up the Haverhill stick most everywhere we went, so he could hear when the commercial ended. His humor was quick and his charm was always flowing! I will miss him also. Bill Pike loved local sports. I remember him talking about some of the local boxers from the Merrimack Valley of years gone by with some real enthusiast of the sport, and would hear him talk in great detail and energy about boxing. He was a one of a kind person.
