Years ago, 1400 WIDE Biddeford and 93.9 WAYU Lewiston (now WCYI) both made a
regular practice of such radio auctions.  WCLZ more recently had a similar
program that involved primarily gift certificates.  The key was that the
advertiser knew up front what was going on.  I suppose the advertiser might
not be happy if they worked out a trade arrangement and then the radio
station went into competition with them without the advertisers knowledge.
