You seem to be suggesting that the Met broadcasts include no cueing tones.
Of course, if cueing tones are present, nothing says that a station has to
use them. But considering the minuscule likelihood of recruiting as a board
op anyone who would be willing to listen to opera (even opera as melodic as
The Marriage of Figaro) it behooves stations to use the cueing tones if they
are available.
BTW, in an earlier post, you suggested that the jingle for City of Lowell's
"There's a lot to like about Lowell" campaign spells Lowell, Loal. I
disagree; when I first heard the jingle, I thought they were spelling it
Lole. Now, if the ethnic makeup of Lowell and Lawrence were reversed, I
guess there would be a question about whether or not Lole should be
pronounced Low-lay', but thankfully, we do not need to worry about that.
