It most certainly is.  Although AT&T had a listing of approved
exchange names (ALgonquin was one of them), many of the exchanges in
Boston were named early on, before this list came out.  Hence, we
still today have TWinbrook numbers in Waltham, COpley numbers in the
Back Bay (although COmmonwealth would also fit), and in Brookline,
standard name REgent joins local names BEacon, ASpinwall, and
LOngwood.  (This may be clearer if you consider the original
three-letter names, which became RE4, BE2, AS7, and LO6, and then in
modern times 734, 232, 277, and 566 respectively.)
