RE: WKTQ (was tv on radio)

While I was in New Jersey, one half of the simulcast I was programming (then
WJLK 94.3/WQNJ 98.5, now WBBO)was licensed to "Ocean Acres".

The is no Ocean Acres. No town, no village, nothing.

There is, however, an "Ocean Acres Golf Course" near by. (In Manahawkin...
maybe?)

Rhode Island seems to have a lot of these "Places" of License as opposed
to a City or even Town of License. They include:

990 WALE Greenville (a section of Smithfield)
1180 WJJF Hope Valley (a section of both Hopkinton & Richmond)
1370 WKFD Wickford (a section of North Kingstown)
90.3 WRIU Kingston (a section of South Kingstown)
95.9 WCRI Block Island (should be Town of New Shoreham)
99.3 WADK Block Island (should be Town of New Shoreham)
99.7 WZRA Wakefield-Peacedale (both part of South Kingstown)
102.7 WAKX Narragansett Pier (part of Narragansett)

I always found it funny that WKTQ was licensed to South Paris. There is
no
municipality of South Paris, Maine, the municipality is simply Paris.
The
village area of town is commonly referred to as South Paris, but
there's no
official designation.

Is it unusual for a radio station to be licensed to an informal
geographic
designation and not to an official municipality?
