RE: NHPR leaves NHAB
I believe NH was one of the first (if not the first) states in the USA to
sell lottery tickets. (I think 1968-70 was the start time, somewhere in that
range)
NH is part of the 20+ state Powerball group (HQ'ed in Iowa, and Connecticut
and Rhode Island are the other two New Eng states playing Powerball)
NH is part of the 3 state "Megabucks" group with Maine and Vermont. The
'Tri-State" lottery commission also runs the pick 3 and pick 4 numbers games
as well as some other games, but I don't recall what they are.
NH also has it's own games, mostly the scratch tickets, but I believe also
has at least one NH-only 'electronic ticket' game.
So that this meets the criteria of the list....WMUR broadcast the
'tri-state' winners and carries the Powerball drawing 'LIVE' from beautiful
downtown Des Moines! (Though WNDS-Derry now is the home of the rediculous
Powerball 'TV" game hosted by Bob Eubanks...I guess Hearst-Argyle didn't
want any part of it).
