I doubt it.  It is possible to sue for "intentional infliction of 
emotional distress," but that involves conduct that is so egregious as to 
be "utterly intolerable in a civilized society" and has to cause severe 
emotional pain.  I can't imagine that having his picture run in the Globe 
can be as painful for the kid as having his father on trial for killing 
the other father, having to testify in court about the incident, and 
having to go to school every day with everyone knowing about it.

Then, of course, there's the other kid, who doesn't have his father at 
all.
