Re: Concert for New York

I was in the car for part of the concert and heard it
on WXRV 92.5 "the River," WBOS 92.9, and WZLX 100.7
here in Boston. 'ZLX was promoing it all week, and gave
a pair of tickets to a listener.

The Who, the Goo Goo Dolls, and Mick & Keef were great.
Even acts like Macy Gray and Bon Jovi, who I personally
don't like were enjoyable. So was the Clinton's getting
booed!

I found Paul McCartney to be swarmy and even cornball
at times. His commercialism of the event 'this is a
song from my new album' and 'all the proceeds of this
my new single, blah, blah ...' was embarrassing and almost offensive. It's no wonder the guy was pimping
his new stuff though, since every album he has put out
in the last 15+ years has stiffed.

Then, he played a song he wrote right after the WTC
attacks called "Freedom. The tag line in was "We will
fight, for the fight, to live in freedom."

Correct me if I am wrong here, but isn't this the same
chap, who along with the Fab Four, ushered in the era
of peace and love? Isn't this the same guy marching
against the war in Vietnam, where one country was
fighting another country for freedom? I don't really
want to argue the validity of that war, which I
probably wouldn't have supported, but the hypocrisy by
McCartney reeks. Lennon, wherever he is, is rolling in
his grave.
