Syndie visionary dies

Broadcasting & Cable reports that radio and TV syndication pioneer Frederic
Ziv died Saturday aged 96. He was responsible for such TV classics as Science
Fiction Theater, The Cisco Kid, Highway Patrol and Sea Hunt. He syndicated
radio programming on transcription discs back in the 30s. After selling his
company in 1959 he became a faculty member of the University of Cincinnati
College Conservatory of Music and wrote the books The Valiant Muse and The
Business of Writing. He was also active in supporting public broadcasting in
his native Cincinnati. Ziv was a legend in broadcasting and will be dearly
missed. I loved watching Science Fiction Theater reruns on Channel 6 back in
the 70s!
