You know that if you watched the press conference that he said basically the
same thing about himself. But is it necesary to give the guy an extra slam
for an unfortunate situation....especially after he admits being at fault.?
Those who know Ted know he is not "utterly stupid", or "dumb".
(He may have even been a somewhat experienced hiker...to some degree
anyway.)
What we learn from this is that a person who is bright and not naive (and
posssibly a hiker with some experience)....misread what preparation was
required.

Isn't that why we hire resue personel...for unortunate situations that
someone didn't plan for?
BTW....knowing Ted, he would probably send them a sizable donation before
ever being asked.
