It made a good deal of sense to the owners of WCLV, who are getting
millions for that 95.5 Cleveland signal. Business is business.
They have actually done even more than the originally promised; in
addition to keeping classical on 104.9 Lorain signal, they are also
picking up the standards format dropped by the former WRMR, which will
run on 1420 (the former WHK in times long past). Certainly Salem and
Clear Channel came out the winners in the deal, but then, that was
what was supposed to happen. Salem gets two new Cleveland signals,
Clear Channel gets a new full-power Canton signal, and WCLV gets a
large wad of cash.
Perhaps if somebody can convince Moody Bible to abandon that
full-power Cleveland FM they are sitting on.... (Everyone I've talked
to says ``not likely''.)
