In fact, WBAL is one of only two radio stations (the other being
sister WIYY) directly owned by The Hearst Corporation.  All of the
other stations that Hearst used to own were owned by a predecessor
company to Hearst-Argyle and AFAIK were all spun after the Argyle
merger.
