What's ``wacky'', to use your word, is the notion that free broadcast
via electromagnetic radiation is somehow a different medium from free
broadcast via wire. (The astute students of broadcasting history will
recall several early broadcasting efforts which distributed their
programs over telephone company wires to speakers mounted in
subscribers' homes, and many large apartment buildings constructed
around the same time had a central radio system with speakers in each
unit.)
