Re: Radio Turn-offs

Turn offs:

Traffic Reports
- Traffic reporters that think they're your friends while telling you that
you'll be in traffic til doomsday
- Traffic Reporters that talk way too fast during a report. (I consider a
traffic report an extension of news...take time to explain...)

Weather Reports (how appropriate)
- The hype! Not for nothing - we all live in New England...explain the
situation, but don't hype it up.
- Weather forecasts with too much detail. On a "normal" weather day, just
the facts, please. Is it going to be cold? Warm? Rain? I don't care about
low pressure areas combining to form weather systems. Do I need a coat?
Take the weather down to :60 on television and I'd be happy. (Sorry Bruce!)

News
- The hype! Especially on snow days.
- Sending reporters across the country (or world) to cover an event that the
station could use a network reporter for. (Ch. 7 is guilty of this - big
time!) Usually this event has little or no effect on Boston, but someone's
gotta be there live!

Sports
- On the TV side - no complaints. We're pretty spoiled with the TV sports
folks here in Boston.
- Radio side: talking over each other or in some cases, yelling over each
other.

Talk Radio
- When a host talks down to a caller/listener rather than talking with/to
the caller/listener.

I feel so much better now - no therapy needed this week! Thanks Bill!
