Are there *any* successful independents left on broadcast TV?  I really think
those days are behind us.  And in any case you only have to witness per inquiry
spots airing during the *network* avails on the weekday Today show and the
weekday NBC Nightly News in the midst of the holiday buying season to realize
how soft the TV advertising market has become.  It's frightening, really...I
don't remember that happening during the *last* recession.  No wonder NBC and
Fox have instituted hiring freezes.
