Re: UMass football

WUHN is on 1110--but hey--10-kHz off ain't bad. If you tuned to 1100,
chances are you'd hear something (in the southern Berkshires or northwest
Connecticut it would more likely be WHLI than WUHN) and you'd probably
figure out that you needed to retune the radio.

WVNE is a surprise though. I always considered UMass football to be secular
programming. Are attendees at UMass football games now required to offer a
NON-nondenomimational prayer before the kickoff? If so, it would be a BIG
victory for the Christian right--maybe the sort of inducement that
whatsizname (the guy who owns WVNE) would go for. Something tells me,
though, that it was $$$ that answered his prayers.

BTW with a decent radio, some patience, and a bit of determination, you can
get WVNE in Brookline.

In reply to my e-mail, the Alumni Association has sent me a list of the
stations carrying UMass football games:

> WHMP AM-1400, Northampton
> WPNT AM-1600, Springfield
> WGAM AM-1520, Greenfield
> WUHN AM-1100, Pittsfield
> WVNE AM-760, Worcester
> WXKS AM-1430, Boston

There is no explanation of why WXKS did not carry last Saturday's game.
