GE Superradio III discontinued?

I was in So. Burlington over the weekend and wandered into Ames Drugstore.
In their radio section, there was a sign that prominently stated the GE
Superradio as "Discontinued" and on sale for 50USD.  

Did Thomson discontinue the device or did Ames discontinue its sale? I
know GE was still making them as of recently, since the new ones on store
shelves have the model # ending in B and the power cord is of the new,
thick, double-jacketed style (that is required for all audio/visual
devices - even clock radios these days).
