that would be all full-time radio stations, Larry. in twenty plus (oh God,
i'm one THEM now...) years of radio, with the exception being the am station
in Biddeford, WIDE, that used to conclude its broadcast day at midnight, and
then fire up the squirrels in the transmitter at 0450 for an 0500 sign-on,
i've never once started or seen a program or broadcast log on a full-time
station that did not begin anew at 12am. also, all of the network clearance
sheets i've ever had to spend arduous hours filling out in order to meet the
clearance obligations all began each day with the 12am hour.
irt television program logs: tv's all night programming is a fairly recent
phenom, no? many tv stations used to sign off after the late late late late
show (or was it "Even Later With...") and then go to snow. (or as i used to
imagine it when younger whilst waiting for something, anything, to return to
the screen, "the overhead crowd shot") the new day would usually begin at 5,
as that was when "...begins another broadcast day." roll the anthem and the
Blue Angels/Thunderbirds fly-by.
and yes, "The Guide" (bow heads in reverence), starts at 5am, but that
publication is mostly for the public. and unless you've worked "Thursday
night/Friday morning", 2am is just very late at night, instead of incredibly
early in the morning.
