Maybe they could blend smooth jazz in with 
easy listening. Was out in NW Mass. today and heard
WMNB (100.1) in North Adams; maybe if they tried
that approach (a mix...)

And maybe you're right about the market being too
small to support a (smooth) jazz station-- Boston
is bigger and two smooth jazz efforts failed here
(though it could be they didn't give it the proper
chance.)
