When a station in Maine burned down

Yes, I recall the fire at WABK was about that time.
It was a Saturday morning. The studios and office
building was flattened and gone by the time i saw it
in the morning. I don't recall if any cause was
determined, although electrical seems right. The
Transmitter was not in that building, it was in a
small greenish shed, and several engineers and people
from many other stations around the state were crammed
in there, all having brought odds and ends to put
together a ramshackle studio. By the afternoon, a
house trailer was delivered to the site. Also by the
afternoon, they had the FM simulcasting the AM Shed
broadcast.

I have heard of a few other station fires in the area.
many years ago, The current WSYY AM/FM in Millinoket
burned badly, and they still have a melted telephone
in a display case to mark the occaision. Channel 7's
Transmitter building burned around 1994. WQHR in
Presque Isle had a fire that destroyed it's main
transmitter in 1995, although the building and an
auxiliary was saved.

Does anyone recall details about the day in the mid
80's that an ice storm took down both Channel5 and
Channel 7's towers? I remember 5 was off for a week
or so, and 7 had lost a brand new tower & antenna, but
got back on that evening with their old tower.
Channel 2 ran a special that night at 7pm.
