The solution for CBS on New Year's Eve was so obvious....They should
have re-arranged Dan Raher and the camera location so that Dan would
have blocked the camera's view of the NBC Astrovision screen! This way,
they could have covered-up their competitor's logo without having to
electronically blot-it-out to replace it with a CBS "eye".
As for me, my girlfriend and I watched "ABC 2000" with friends who live
in Hicksville, Long Island (28 miles due east of Times Square) that we
visited for he New Year's weekend. I seem to recall that in wide shots
panning Times Square that yes, the NBC peacock did appear.
On the other had, because Dick Clark was there, ABC's ratings were
higher for both prime time and midnight than NBC and CBS combined.
