RE: WCLZ resurfaces as 98.9/The Point

Long ago, Norm, the CE at WBZ, told people that he had a standing order that
lubricating oil be mixed in with all coffee made on the premises. The
point, he said, was that when the announcers spilled their coffee into the
board or other equipment as they were bound to do, it wouldn't be a total
waste.

have to feel sorry for Lori. by her own admission, she
christened the new format and studio (?) with a cup of coffee. hence the
required presence of Gene T and magic pliers. that's why, boys and girls,
management and engineering really, really don't want you drinking coffee in
the studio. in the good old days, the console was more of an elevated
device, whereas today's newer, micro-chip filled devices are nice and flat,
making them more prone to disaster when subjected to a tipped cup'o'joe.
(but i'm still confused as to why we have the nice Denon Cup Holders in the
studios... i'm kidding, boss. really.)
