Gary Thorne had dabbled,like many of us, in broadcasting while in college
for something else. He then became a lawyer and then a DA in the Bangor
area.

When the Guides began in 1985, he was a minor investor and became the teams
play by play man. During that summer, the Mets GM was on vacation in Cape
Elizabeth, Maine and heard him doing the games, and that is how he wound up
in New York.

When WABU got the Sox contract in 1996, Gary and Sean made it too the final
cut, and the Sox decided to stick with Sean.
