Re: while in Portland....
1440 WJAE/900 WJJB carry the Bruins when there is not a conflict with the
Celtics, Patriots or Red Sox, which the station also carries. I'm not sure
what the problem was with WBZ, their signal is usually very reliable in
southern Maine.
I have lived in Maine all my life and I am a sports fan. It has been my
observation that the Bruins are significantly less popular in Maine than the
other Boston sports team. Part of that is that hockey is less popular than
the big three sports, but even among hockey fans there seems to be more
interest in the UMaine Black Bears, the Portland Pirates and youth hockey.
The Bruins have never had much of a radio network in the state. Before they
were on WBZ, you often could not pick them up on the radio in Maine. They
also no longer have a TV affiliate for the games that are not on NESN.

figured SOMEBODY up there carries the B's. Found the Celtics on 1440 ( and
with a bad phone line from WEEI), and BU Hockey on 1310 (Yes BU).. but
scanning the band only place I could find the B's was on 670 out of Chicago.
