of late, they've been slow on the uptake to return to full power, even into
the early evening hours. are they (WBZ) still doing tower work? their
signal, even through some of the Boston underpasses, has been lousy at best
of late. of course, with due respect to the people not of right minds who
climb and work on towers (a wink and a nod of respect here), the weather has
been more that cooperative of late, and has thus probably given them more
time than usual to get some extra work/painting done.
i do agree with dan that WBZ usually puts in a local-strength signal up
this way, and that by face-off time saturday evening, the tower of power
should have been back to its usual crankin' self.
btw: speakin of 'BZ... Jordan Rich had a couple of great (GREAT) guests
on in the wee hours of Saturday.... one pushing his book on the network
morning tv shows, and another talking about his current work of non-fiction
on the KGB. Jordan is sadly under-used by the Soldiers Field Road gang, IMO.
the man is smooth, and actually took the time to read the books, one of
which was oft refered to as "big", "thick", "lengthy"... note to Jordan:
keep that up! with all due respect to the regulars who haunt (and have
logged more airtime than most of us currently being paid to do radio, even at
3am...) the overnight talk shows, we can only take so much of Wolfie's picks
at Suffolk Downs, as well as dealing with the aches and pains of the varied
and sundried others who seems to feel that THEIR particular bout of gout (or
whatever) is the stuff of which those in 38 states wait to hear each week.
note to kevin: thanks for coming to Portland. come again, bring your
friends, and spend lots of money! Maine loves tour...er, Visitors! (note
the blue welcome signs on your next trip north: you'll see where the state
patched over the "Tourist" and replaced it with "Visitors" on the Welcome
Center sign...)
