Re: Bruins on Radio

On January 24th, the Bruins ARE playing--they host Calgary (7 P.M. at
the Fleet Center). I believe that because of the NFL conference
championships on Sunday 1/23, most NHL teams will be off that day/night,
but play Monday the 24th instead.
That, as has been pointed out, is the night of the Iowa Caucuses.

I think there was one occassion when WEEI had both the Bruins and
Celtics that a Celtics' game was bumped off the then-590 frequency. I
thought it was in the fall of 1993, and the Bruins were playing Montreal
(who won the 1993 Stanley Cup). I think the Celtics had a pre-season
game against lowly New Jersey.

Since the Celtics and WEEI are no longer under common ownership, were
they to ever again be on the same radio station, I think conflicts might
be settled by who is at home, with the home game staying on the regular
station, and the away game being bumped elsewhere. This would mean the
"regular flagship station" would probably have about 65 regular-season
games (all home, about 25 road), with about 15 games of each being
bumped. Were both teams on the road, the decision might be made based on
who's the opponent (i.e. the Bruins would get bumped if they were at
Atlanta the same night the Celtics were in Indiana, or, the Celtics
would get bumped if they were in New Jersey the same night the Bruins
were in Montreal).
