940 Montreal/104.1 Portland
I was surprised while driving up 95 from Portland on Sunday night at
the strength of 940. I hit the pushbutton on car radio for WCBS 880, and
surprised they were barely making it. After hitting search 940 Montreal
came booming in with all sorts of promos on their new upcoming
Newsradio. Even held up well going within a mile of WABI-910 towers in
Brewer. They will be using AP Network news, as well as CNN Radio feeds,
according to their promos. I think they just might do a good job of
serving the English audience there. I'll check it out for a different
view of world news, as I often do with CBD 91.3 St.John NB or CBYA
92.1Yarmouth NS. I just wish our local cable outlet would pick up
CBC/CTV from Saint John/Moncton.
.
When I lived in Alaska, Vancouver's News-
radio outlets CKWX-980 and CBU-690 always put good signals north , and
were very informatve with a different view of world events compared to
KIRO/ KCBS/KNX which also came in well at night.
On a different note; while driving around Portland Sunday I thought I
picked up a pirate at 104.1 with latino music. It wasn't until their
hourly ID and promo that I realized WMPG
had a translator going. Pretty good signal too, solid for a few miles
down Rte.77 from
Portland to Two Lights Park in Cape Elizabeth. Sure enough, it's listed
in the new 99 FMAtlas.
Anybody know where the transmitter is?
