each studio has its' own EAS SAGE encoder/decoder broadcast unit. each
unit is wired directly to the stations STL. it overrides any and all audio
originating from the stations' master control. it can, as Jason (from WPLM)
so very skillfully put it, be run the right way, or the sloppy way. sounds
like WROR and WSJZ were not on the ball today. if you listen carefully in
the future, you may notice the event "following" an EAS test/broadcast tends
to "clip" at the head. that's because it takes the EAS unit almost a full
second or so to "release" control of the audio chain.
