When I lived in Chicago   WBZ used to show up one hour before local sunset
clear as a bell

Once when on I-95 in the Carolinas I hit the seek button and only one
station locked in  1030

Have heard BZ in Miami  once called Bob Raleigh on car phone while in
Everglades

Simple fact  unlike the NY stations, they don't beam east, hence they are
the strongest everywhere else.
