Re: NAC
Depends how locked in Entercom is to whatever it is that
93.7 calls itself these days. Disco gets very old very
fast. Maybe after a couple of books, they'll flip 93.7
to Smooth Jazz. It's available on satellite and ought to
be cheaper than the current programming, which is mostly
local, I believe.
Entercom execs probably tell themselves that they're
focused on the bottom line, but they seem to have only
one objective--holding down the cost of the product.
Smooth Jazz is an inexpensive format. Moreover, more
than almost any other format, satellite-delivered Smooth
Jazz seems almost totally indistinguishable from locally
produced Smooth Jazz.
I wonder if this market is ready for Smooth Jazz heavily
laced with latin jazz. That could really be fun to
listen to and might attract a multicultural audience. Of
course, I doubt that any syndicator is delivering such a
product. So there goes the low cost.
