Legal ID: A followup question

Now that we've gotten the Legal ID debate solved (well, until it resurfaces
the next time...), I've got another question

At the station I work at, we had to sign off one overnight, for some TX
maintenance.  What's the proper FCC procedure for signing off (and for
signing back on!)?

I tried the FCC website and did a few queries, but found nothing useful.
