According to today's FCC actions, Boston University 
(well, technically, the WRNI Foundation) has applied to 
increase the night power of its recently acquired 
Providence station (on 1290) to 10 kW from the current 5 
kW. There would be no change in site or tower setup, and 
there is no indication of an application to change the 5-
kW directional daytime facilities. If that's all there 
is to the application, WRNI would join a fairly short 
but rapidly growing list of AM stations that operate 
with higher power at night than during the day.
