Umm,  actually the 27th, according to Variety.  There had been a week's
worth of bad weather, which postponed the actual start-- WHDH-TV had
originally scheduled the opening one week earlier, but weather-related
transmitter problems delayed  it.

Back to the WMEX question-- as I said earlier, the Richmond Brothers
gradually changed the station throughout the remainder of 1957 and into
1958.  Jay McMasters, the last remaining holdover from the previous
ownership, finally left the station and joined a new jock from South Bend
Indiana-- JESS CAIN-- over at WHDH in early December of 1957.
