I believe that is incorrect. The Bang Masters CD (which is the
songs originally released from the Morrison sessions at Bang and a few more
that had been unreleased, including an alternate version of Brown Eyed Girl
with a modified arrangement) has the original-release version of Brown Eyed
Girl. It is cleaned up and the song sounds the best of any version I've
heard. It sort of sounds a little remixed, although it may not actually be.
The background singing, especially on the fade, is clarified. This is not
the censor version.
As I suggested in my other post, the censor edit was not the
original U.S. single, nor was it the only version played by radio in 1967.
I'm just about way past certain that the correct version was played on a
lot of radio from the beginning and was the version that was released in
1967 on 45 and 33. If the censor edit was done at that time for radio, it's
an interesting mystery how it showed up years later on some versions of
Morrison albums derived from the Bang sessions.
