Re: WKXL(AM + FM)

having been borned and raised in concord, nh (and actually growing up right up
the road from the station, obviously, wkxl sale comes as a complete surprise.
does anyone know how much it went for? i know that they have had some rough
times recently, even in the am dept. as small shops and businesses went under
and the downtown was abandoned, due to pressures from big retailers, it was
hard to keep the ad money coming in. i went to high school with dick osborne's
daughter so i heard lots of stories about the station. when the fm side went
lite alternative (kind of a very bland version of "the river"), people really
liked it, unfortunately, advertisers really didn't take to it at all even
though it was pretty safe, almost adult contemporary, compared to say wfnx's
standards. their last day as alternative was the day the gulf war started btw.
i always thought that the fm would have been a great pick up for mindich/wfnx,
since there was a rabid following for the alternative programming. it always
seemed like a waste to broadcast the am programming on the fm signal instead
of trying something different, even if it is off satellite.
