        I still think local radio *can* do well, more for music than news,
as already has happened. My baby-boomer impression of the younger audience
is that the modern rock format in particular is very locally oriented. WMRQ
in Hartford is loaded with info. on the local club and concert scene, both
with artists the station plays and local musicians. This is the audience
that goes out to live music events in large numbers. If local radio
provides something that's genuinely local and that the audience wants, it
will still be strong despite direct satellite. Just my $.02.
