I know why, or at least I have a hot theory, and it's so obvious to me.
Same with radio listening, which is also down. TOO MANY COMMERCIALS. Now,
I realise we can't all go commercial free, and I do understand the need for
stations to support themselves. But since all of these mergers and
buyouts, I have seen (and heard) more commercials being added. Sometimes 6
or 7 minutes in a row. I find certain dramatic shows almost unwatchable as
a result, and I seldom if ever watch TV anymore. Or have you listened to,
let's say, Kiss 108, which has a period of time at the bottom of the hour
with one song, and then about 6 commercials-- and then a liner saying more
music in a minute-- and more commercials. Again, I realise the need to
clump commercials together so you can have long music sweeps, but I can't
help but think people tune out during those long breaks...
