Hello, WXNI

I checked out WBUR-FM this afternoon in hopes of catching Whad'ya Know
(bumped by Senate stuff earlier on NH and Maine public stations). 90.9
had still more impeachment coverage--no big surprise--but I caught my
first "1230 WXNI Westerly" ID there at 1 p.m.
I have previously mentioned that WRNI Providence does its own breaks
most of the week rather than simply rebroadcasting WBUR-FM. The
Christmas weekend programming may not be a fair sample, but I noticed a
few examples of WRNI airing different programs from WBUR-FM during my
brief holiday stay in the Fall River area. During overnight periods
WRNI stuck with the BBC World Service feed for as much as 8 solid hours,
inserting only its underwriter/ID announcement at the top of the hour
where "Lilliburlero" would otherwise be heard. WBUR-FM never carries
more than 6 straight hours of the Beeb on overnights and inserts more
local information into the top-of-hour break. I also noted WRNI
listeners got to hear London instead of Con Salsa on December 27th.
