I was listening in the car this evening. There was a promo about how they
are continuing to expand their playlist and acknowledging that the feedback
from listeners has called for greater variety. I wonder whether this will
be a chink in the armor of the tight playlist.
Unfortunately, the variety so far seems to be a wide variety of the same
kind of music. Which means that, although the artist changes, and the
melody changes some, the basic mood is the same from one song to another,
which gets boring fast. For example, they played Tony Bennett singing the
Beatles' song "Something," but it sounded just like all the Sinatra they
were playing around New Years. In fact, until they said it was Tony
Bennett, I thought it was Sinatra.
