WQEW: Again, Alas

     ----- Genie Online Services E-Mail -----

I Was A Regular Listener Of Rich Conaty On The Weekends On 'QEW
Because On Saturdays He Tended To Play "Big Band" Obscurities As
Opposed To The Tried And True Favorites.

On Sunday Evenings He Featured Selection s From The '20s and '30s,
Including A Lot Of "Hot" Jazz: Louis, The Dorsey Brothers, Glen
Gray, Django. I Could Just Kick B}iaXXXXX Back, Close My Eyes,
And Transport Myself To Another Era. And The Added Fact That
The AM Signal Would Fade In And Out From Time To Time During The
Evening Made It Even Better, IMO.

I Found Out {_Through A BB That He Went To Another Station, And That
Was Sometime Last Summer, If I'm Not Mistaken. He Was (Or The
Saturday Night Time Slot, I Should Say) Was Taken By Les Davis (?),
I Think, Who Favored A More "Straight Ahead" Approach With A Lot Of
'50s/'60s/ Stuff.

It Was On Rich's Show One Night The Only Time I've Heard A Recording
By Roy Smeck "The Wizard Of The Strings" (Ukele no Wait, Make That
Ukulele) From Sometime In The 1920s. Anybody Else Around Doing That?

I Still Think The New York Times Company Will Undergo SXXX Restructuring.

The y Could Exit The Radio Business, Exit The TV Business, Or Both.

According To Their Quarterlys, The Broadcast Group Contributes %5%
Of total Revenue.

Okay, How About Some More 'QEW Songs: "Stay As Sweet As You Are",
NatKing Cole . . . . . . "East Of The Sun/West Of The Moon", FS/
Tommy Dorsey . . . . . . "Thou Swell, Thou Witty, Thou Grand",
Joe Williams/Count Basie (!).

Hoping Your Christmas Was Merry,
