On one level, I agree with you, especially when there are so many
specialized channels with special niches. But at the same time, there was
something solemn about the President of the United States addressing the
nation on a public matter, and you knew he was on all channels and most
radio stations.
Of course, President Eisenhower was a more solemn President, too.
