Re: A Notorious television anniversary.



Ahh yes !!  I remember that night WELL.  At first, the network was
going to stay until the end of the game and then play "Heidi" in its'
entirety, immediately following the game.  Then some "dunderhead" at
NBC decided to go to "Heidi" at 7, no matter what the status of the
game was.  After all, this was the Sunday night "family hour" and most
kids went to bed at 8:00 pm.  They were afraid that half their family
audience would turn off at 8:00 pm.  Then, the football announcers
said that "Heidi" will begin at 7:00 pm as scheduled.  And it did.  It
was hardly worth the wait.  I didn't particularly think it was a
"spectacular" (TV phraseology of the time) by any means.  It kinda
sucked. Even at the age 8, I knew a "klinker" when I saw one.  IMHO.
