That explains it. I missed the NERW mention. I've noticed lately that
the signal was bad to non-existent in Conn. I thought WLIB might have
been testing with an open carrier. On the new night pattern, WOWO's 20
kW isn't aimed east, so we must be getting something very low in ERP.
(Except for laziness, I'd look it up.) But the real issue is that even
if WOWO were keeping 50 kW on a new pattern, the Northeast would be
going to get WLIB's skywave anyway.

They really need to move the transmitter closer to the city. But I'll
bet WLIB won't pay for a whole new site and all the engineering and
construction now. Any takers?

Doesn't WOWO run Joey Reynolds? Just that, especially while it's the
Class A WOWO, is a very worthwhile piece of broadcasting, IMO. He
doesn't have that many major clear-channel outlets.
I know that many of those who worked so hard on the WOWO case have a
dislike for WLIB, but its programming definitely is alternative and
different than if it were going to take the frequency just to be the
200th station repeating Art Bell. I find WLIB interesting. In that
respect, it ought to have some appeal to many of the people on this
group who rightly complain about the sameness and boring quality of so
much on radio now. It sure will beat another new ex-band station
playing .... hold your breath now ... the One on One sports bird or
something similar. Personally, I'm hoping for an all-night reggae
show. If they're going to kill WOWO, the least they can do, IMO, is
play Bob Marley.
