Actually, there was, but only on AM-FM simulcasts. WCOP-FM repeated the
AM 24 hours a day until late 1960, when it went to a separate classical
format. It returned to simulcast in the summer of 1962, when the AM
changed to a different format. WBZ-FM simulcasted the AM in the mornings
for a number of years. And, at least in Bedford where I was, I got
WKBR-FM in Manchester. Out at UMass, we all listened to WHYN-AM & FM in
Springfield.
