Many AM stations that apparently are far to the south (they're all
in Spanish) are coming in again tonight all over the AM band. I've been
picking them up in place of regular catches on a bunch of channels,
including 580, 630, 670, 750 and 800.
On 800, at 12:01 a.m. EDT, I heard an announcer say Venezuela. The
station had been playing pop music and seemed to be doing a station break.
Then it switched to reggae music. It was staying on top of CKLW most of the
time.
As far as I've ever known, PJB, the super-power station in Bonaire,
is religious and usually in English. Bonaire is just off the coast north of
Venezuela. But could that programming be PJB? The database lists a 50 kW
station in Maracaibo, Venezuela, on 800, YVTB. This would be my first South
America DX. On the Sony car radio. But does anyone know if this pop music
could be PJB, which is a much more likely DX pickup, IMO.
