Your story brings to mind a major power outage some years back while I was
ND at WHAV/WLYT. I was listening to the early evening talk show at home,
when people started calling in stating that they lost their power. Once I
heard more of those calls, I high-tailed it to How St., and instead of
heading to the "Good Time Oldies" network, we went live, taking phone calls
from people who didn't have power. With one on air phone line, it was
tough...so tough that I dug out a map with another HAV staffer (who happened
to be cutting spots at the time) and began sticking tacks in the map with
the location of callers.
Some 200 tacks later, people had their power back, and felt good about their
"Hometown Station
"...we even got a write up in the then daily Haverhill Gazette...which was a
miracle in itself.
Once again, nothing beats local radio.

PS: Bill, there are times I dust off the poorly marked airchecks and think
the same thing you did about yours. Those dreaded Haverhill Beef
liners...holy smokes! : )
