That may indeed be true on a 'contract engineer' level-- but when I was a
kid, I associated certain songs with who the d.j. was and what station he
was on.  I am willing to bet that Arnie was not on the air at WMEX till
1958, though he may certainly have helped out at various places with
engineering.  The former owner, Bill Pote's brother Al had done the exact
same thing-- Al did engineering for about 5 greater Boston stations...
