I remember when then-WCOP/1150 was country. I recall one of the station's
slogans was "Home of teh Country Gentlemen". I think the format began in
the early 1960s. As much as I enjoy classic country music (but not back
then), Boston has yet to prove it's a city whose residents enjoy country.
Now here in the south (no, not south Boston; south Florida), it's tough to
find any town that doesn't have at least one country station.
