I was working the day Bud blew his brains out and it was live as was Dwyer.
There is not too much you can do about editing a live event. Many of the
stations at bud's news conference ducked under the table (with their cameras).
I don't know of any of the LA stations that continued to show the guy shooting
himself after the live event.
Regardless of what people say, if one station cut away from the story you
would hear the sound of remotes clicking to the closest station that stayed
with it.
TV stations carry such live events because people watch them and that's it.
What is the difference between a person commiting suicide on TV and people in
action shows and movies doing it in front of kids?? Is that better for them?
