Oh dear-- how quickly they forget.  I responded. But I was a bit less
enthusiastic because of the many negatives replies I get whenever I mention
doing a historical project.  Even several local colleges (Emerson among
them) have dropped the History of Broadcasting, folding it into other
courses... 

Rick then wrote to express his support for Marty's idea, and I certainly
concur, but in an election year, with various political 'hot button issues'
being discussed, and a legislature that doesn't seem able to make a decisive
move on the death penalty, gun control, or education reform-- getting the
politicos from the city of Springfield to back a historical proposal might
end up being the impossible dream.  I'm not trying to spoil Marty's good
idea-- I am just saying that we on this list get a lot more enthusiastic
about the history of our industry than the politicians and the general
public seem to...
